The Pale Horseman: Post 2

As I get farther in the book it is starting to pick up. One day Uhtred is on his land when all of the people are starting to panic because they think a Danish ship is approaching. Uhtred goes down to the water and sees that it is not a Danish ship, but a ship run by Saxons. His friend Loeric is on board as the captain, as he and his fleet have come to retrieve a ship in Uhtred's bay, that has been sitting there since the battle at Cynuit. Loeric and Uhtred talk about how boring things are at the time, so they decide to transform the ship into a Viking ship, and travel the waters and try to make a fortune. They disguise the boat with Danish features so King Alfred does not find out what they are doing when they are really suppose to be fixing the ship in Uhtred's Bay. When they are sailing along looking for boats to rob, they come across a ship that was flying a green flag, which meant they want to talk. A priest was on board of the other ship, so he came on Uhtred's boat, and talked about his town and his king's land, which had been taken over by King Callyn. He begged Uhtred and his men to fight against them, and offered them a large amount of silver if they would fight for his king. Uhtred and Loeric discuss the terms and agree that it would be a good idea if they went and fought. When they get there they have a big feast to honor the men fighting, and plan to attack King Callyn the next morning. When they wake up most of the men are to hung over to fight, so they wait till later in the day to start towards King Callyn's army. This looks like a good battle for the Saxons, and should be some easy money for Uhtred and Loeric's men.
